Dov'è

In the exhibition ‘Dov'è’, I used drawings, collages and photography to sketch the influence of Italian culture on my artistic identity. There are Giotto, Piranesi, Sergio Leone, Mario Brava, Valentina Magaletti and there is Palazzo Ulmo in Taranto, where during a residency in 2023 I realized new sketches and a video which also was on display. There I found the opportunity to test my own identity in the context of another and to enter into a dialogue with Taranto about identities and supposed opposites.

Sound of Silence: performance, lecture, over-voice singing, 16.10.2025

For the performance ‘Sound of Silence,’ I chose three particular photo series of German locations, which are connected to Fascism, Shoah, and forced labour. In addition I projected a series of a bus stop in Taranto where the word "Dux (Duce)" is still rythmically painted on the wall. All four are addressing the transgenerational transmission of trauma among the perpetrators in a fascist state. The lecture part of the performance focused on that. In the projections of the different series I sang along with: "Ride 'Em Jewboy" by Kinky Friedman/Düren, "Sound of Silence" by Chromatics/Lübeck, "Bright Eyes" by Art Garfunkel/former Nazi airports in Brandenburg and Berlin, "Mad World" by Gary Jules/Porta Napoli in Taranto
